Farming Simulator 14: When Someone Else’s Life Becomes Your Momentary Diversion

Anybody else interested in this recent spate of mundane simulator games?

Don’t misunderstand — we’re all for the massive, slam-bang action blockbusters like GTA or Titanfall.  But there’s something intriguing about the matter-of-fact slice of life games that we’re seeing that’ll make you responsible for fixing a car or surviving in the wild as a bear.

And then there’s the whole phenomena that is Goat Simulator

All we’re saying is, there seems to be a real interest among a set of gamers for parachuting into incredibly meticulous recreations of another living creature’s life, experiencing all of their options, fears and successes in every excruciatingly tiny detail.  We think maybe they provide a zen-like calm from the usual frantic pyrotechnics and frenzy of A-list titles.

Which brings us to Farming Simulator 14.  And yes, it’s just what it sounds like — you’re a farmer.

As described by Crave gaming site Destructoid, you plant crops, use tractors to plow the back 40, even engage in a little animal husbandry — hopefully, without the…you know…ick of real animal husbandry.  Because THAT’S how you want to be spending your free time, right?

Well, Farming Simulator 14 is coming to the Nintendo 3DS starting May 24, so you can decide for yourself whether there’s a career in modern barning or lifestock for you.

Fun fact: as the title suggests, Farming Simulator 14 is just the latest annual iteration of the Farming Simulator franchise, which has been around since 2012.  So get ready for Farming Simulator 15 preview videos in the coming months, undoubtedly…
