It’s quite impressive when a film is the highest grossing of the year.
Even more so when that film is one that received terrible reviews from critics and moviegoers alike.
Naturally, we’re talking about Transformers: Age of Extinction. It’s #1 at the box office this year, and the numbers belie the apparently negative opinion of the press. People all over the world are going to see it despite being told not to from every angle. This is an interesting beast, and the nature of it is:
It’s Transformers.
Even if the movie’s shite, people will flock from beyond the purple mountains’ majesty to see it. Nostalgia and the name have power over the minds of many. It was an essential part of every child’s toy box and cartoon library during those summer weekends; all those kids are grown up now.
We just can’t resist.
