Did Red Sox Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. Really Throw This Baseball 400 Feet?

I’ve been watching baseball my entire life and in that time span have seen a smorgasbord of impressive throws — usually in-game from the outfield to home plate, or in some cases to third base. However, I’ve never, EVER, seen anything quite like this.

Jackie Bradley Jr. is an outfielder for the Red Sox in his second year who has an average bat at-best, but his arm is something else.

Supposedly the outfielder was given a dare to attempt to throw the baseball from home plate to above the center field wall before Friday’s game at Fenway Park. Although it’s incredibly hard to see, the video — and the reaction of the players in it — appear to show the outfielder accomplishing the 400-foot attempt.
