A Ford teaser has revealed close up footage of its new Falcon XR8 sports sedan ahead of the line’s latest and final release expected to come in December this year.
The official Ford Australia video features prototype build co-ordinator Neil Trickey explaining his method for disguising the new Falcon sedan for open road testing, revealing in the process a first look at the XR8’s bonnet scoop, grille, tail and headlights, and badges.
“The headlights on the new Falcon are quite special. We’ve got some new features that are inside that headlight,” Trickey says while applying lycra camouflage to the exterior.
The video also confirms Ford’s decision to bring just front and rear sheet metal changes to the classic Falcon design of the late 90s.
A hefty break system featuring cross-drilled discs are also featured behind black alloy wheels and a yellow air filter is displayed concealed within the engine bay, one similar to that seen on the 5.0-litre, V8-powered FPV GT-F.
In addition to the updates to the front and rear-end exterior, Ford is also expected to fit the latest Sync infotainment system as an interior upgrade.
Ford has confirmed the new-look 2014 Falcon will be the last released before the manufacturer closes its Victorian factory in October 2016.
