This Sunday might as well be a national holiday as most fantasy players partake in their fantasy football drafts. Millions have been studying for months in an attempt to snag the best values, but during that time some of the love has gone too far on our favorite targets for draft day.
Based on newer rankings, here are the players that are going too high in drafts and aren’t promising to deliver a good return this upcoming season.

Top 5 Overrated Fantasy Football Draft Picks
Brandon Cooks WR - New Orleans Saints
I was crazy for Cooks a month ago, but now every analyst and his mother -- you know somone is famous if mom knows who they are -- has chosen the rookie as a sexy sleeper. Because of the hype his Yanoo rank is up to 86, which is too high for a rookie wide out on a team with an endless amount of weapons.
Drew Brees is his QB, obviously I think Cooks will put up points, but his fantasy output will be inconsistent with Marques Colston, Jimmy Graham, Kenny Stills, Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson around.
Who I would rather have: Reggie Wayne, DeAndre Hopkins, Dwayne Bowe
Cam Newton QB - Carolina Panthers
Cam is currently going in the fifth round, which is way too high for a guy with broken ribs and no receiving corps. Seriously, no Steve Smith? All he has is a rookie named Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen to throw to. I'm not paying.
Who I would rather have: Jay Cutler, Tony Romo, Colin Kaepernick
Larry Fitzgerald WR - Arizona Cardinals
I love Fitzy as much as the next guy, but the question is, how do you feel about a 34-year-old Carson Palmer? Fitzgerald is ranked 41st on Yahoo and hasn't eclipsed 1,000 yards since 2011. Reports indicate that Michael Floyd will be the Cardinals go-to threat. I would expect the two to split receptions evenly, at best.
Who I would rather have: Torrey Smith, Jeremy Maclin
Marshawn Lynch RB - Seattle Seahawks
Everyone is screaming to avoid tasting the rainbow this year. Aside from holding out this season, the overused Marshawn Lynch is against all odds to keep his streak of 1,200 yards going. Since 2010, no RB has carried the ball more than Lynch, having three straight years of 250 carries or more. The four guys to have that same load going into last year? Ray Rice, Steven Jackson, Arian Foster and Chris Johnson. Ouch.
Given the risk, I'm not taking Lynch in the first round, which is where he's going.
Who I would rather have: DeMarco Murray, Giovani Bernard, Andre Ellington
Stevan Ridley RB - New England Patriots
Sure, he's ranked 91 in Yahoo, but even if you take him in the 9th round it means the New England RB will probably be in your starting lineup as a RB2 or a Flex -- pretty rough considering he might not even make the team.
That's right, as incredible as it sounds, the latest reports say the veteran might not even make the roster , let alone start. By the time this article is published we will know the result, but the fact the Patriots have even considered cutting him can't be promising.
Who I would rather have: Bernard Pierce, Danny Woodhead, Devonta Freeman, Shonn Greene
