Last night’s first season finale of Star Wars Rebels seemed to serve as a defacto announcement that Ashley Eckstein will be recurring during the upcoming second season. And she won’t be the only new addition.
Deadline is reporting that Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed on to Star Wars Rebels Season 2 in a recurring role. However, no details about Gellar’s character were released in the report. Gellar is the wife of Star Wars Rebels voice actor, Freddie Prinze Jr., who plays the Jedi known as Kanan.
Gellar is best known for playing the title role on Buffy The Vampire Slayer for seven seasons. She has also starred in All My Children, The Crazy Ones, Ringer and several feature films including The Grudge, Practical Magic and two Scooby Doo movies.
The first episode of Star Wars Rebels Season 2 is rumored to be debuting at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim next month. Disney XD has not yet announced a return date for the second season.
