For four seasons, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller co-starred on Fox’s Prison Break. Purcell and Miller were reunited on The Flash this season as the supervillains known as Heatwave and Captain Cold, respectively. And now the duo may once again headline a drama together.
Deadline is reporting that Purcell has joined the cast of the currently untitled DC Superhero Team-up show that is spinning out of The Flash and Arrow. Miller was one of the previously signed performers including Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer (aka The Atom), Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein and Caity Lotz, presumably as Sara Lance, her role from Arrow despite Sara’s onscreen demise.
While the producers of this spinoff have promised at least three additional DC heroes who have never appeared in live action before, Heatwave and Captain Cold will likely be used as recurring threats or antiheroes. Both Purcell and Miller will return later this season on The Flash.

The report notes that Robbie Amell has not signed on to play Ronnie Raymond, the other half of Firestorm with Professor Stein. It’s not clear if Ronnie will be written out of the show or if the role will be recast.
Deadline’s story also suggests that The CW is looking at the spinoff for a midseason slot, which would mean that it will likely debut in early 2016 if the project gets a greenlight.
