Perth Glory have responded to allegations that the club broke the Football Federation Australia salary cap, after being given an extension to the deadline imposed by a show cause notice issued last week.
ABC News reports the Glory had initially been given until 5:00pm Wednesday to provide FFA with a response, however the club was granted a two hour extension.
FFA issued a statement Wednesday evening saying that the Federation had received Perth Glory’s response to its second show cause notice this year.
Club chief executive Jason Brewer said that the Glory’s fate is now in the hands of FFA, but that he was sure there would be a quick resolution.
“I’m sure with three rounds remaining, they’ll be looking to have this matter resolved as soon as possible, which is in everyone’s best interests,” he told AAP.
It is alleged that Perth may have exceeded the salary cap by up to $400,000, with the contract of star striker Andy Keogh under particular scrutiny.

The Glory are currently just short of top spot on the A-League table. If found guilty, the club is likely to be stripped of its place in this year’s finals, and be issued with a heavy fine.
Players say they have been assured that there is nothing to worry about, with defender Dino Djulbic saying, “The club has addressed [the salary cap] with us, and they said that we don’t have anything to worry about – we should just focus on playing.”
“And that’s what we’re doing – innocent until proven guilty, I think.”
