Watch: Jose Mourinho Pulls Prank on Chelsea’s Media Officer During Press Conference

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho pulled a prank on the club’s media officer during a press conference this week, with the conference’s attendees being in on the joke.

Arriving to the conference ahead of Chelsea media officer Steve Atkins, Mourinho informed the press that he would attempt to trick his colleague and that he wouldn’t be accepting questions until Atkins arrived.

After a couple of minutes of silence in which Mourinho occasionally joked with the media, Atkins finally arrived and Mourinho immediately stood up, with the media applauding him as he pretended to make his exit, leading Atkins to believe the conference had already been conducted.

But after Mourinho makes for the door, Atkins realizes that he has been stitched up, and both the press and the typically stoic manager laughed along with one another.

Mourinho has a lot to be smiling about at the moment, with Chelsea sitting atop the Premier League with a 10 point lead. However, the club has a difficult task ahead of them as they come up against Arsenal, who will be looking to end their 12-game streak of not being able to beat the Blues, with seven of their previous matches being won by Chelsea and the other 5 being draws.

With Mourinho concerned about whether or not Diego Costa will be fit to return and Arsene Wenger hungry for a victory against Chelsea, the clubs’ match this Sunday could be one of the most hotly contested of the season.
