The Brink, HBO’s New Geopolitical Comedy, Premieres June 21st

When a rogue general seizes control of Pakistan and its nuclear arsenal, the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of three improbable Americans: Secretary of State Walter Larson (Oscar winner Tim Robbins, Mystic River), lowly Foreign Service officer Alex Talbot (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black, School of Rock), and ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Tilson (Pablo Schreiber, The Wire), who star in the new HBO series The Brink.

From the turbulent streets of the Middle East, to the White House situation room, to an aircraft carrier on the Red Sea, the new 10-episode, half-hour HBO comedy focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate, desperate men, and premieres Sunday, June 21st at 10:30pm on HBO Canada.

The Brink also stars: Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart) as Rafiq Massoud, Alex’s Pakistani driver and confidante; Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics) as Kendra Peterson, Walter’s seen-it-all aide; and Eric Ladin (Boardwalk Empire) as Glenn “Jammer” Taylor, Zeke’s co-pilot.

Additional cast members include: John Larroquette (Deception); Carla Gugino (Wayward Pines); Mimi Kennedy (Midnight in Paris); and Marshall Manesh (How I Met Your Mother).

Also on Sunday, June 21st on HBO Canada, the eagerly awaited second season of True Detective, starring Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch, debuts at 9pm, along with the premiere of the new HBO comedy Ballers, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, at 10pm.
