Watch The First Teaser Trailer For The Leftovers Season 2

In the first season finale of HBO’s The Leftovers, the town of Mapleton was rocked by a massive riot and brought to its knees. But Police Chief Kevin Garvey, Jr. (Justin Theroux) got some much needed peace of mind when he was reunited with his daughter, Jill (Margaret Qualley) and his new love, Nora Durst (Carrie Coon).

The Leftovers series creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta adapted the entire story of Perrota’s original novel of the same name during the first season. For season 2, they are starting from scratch with a new story, and a mostly new supporting cast. Only Kevin and his immediate family (plus Nora) are sticking around as regular characters.

Keep in mind that The Leftovers takes place in a world where the Rapture happened…and it wasn’t what anyone expected at all. 2% of the population simply vanished forever. Good people and bad people were taken. And no one will ever know why.

The first teaser for The Leftovers Season 2 reveals that the new location for the story is Jarden, Texas; a small town that is suddenly a prime destination to live…because there were no departures.

Kevin Carroll is joining the cast this season as ex-convict John Murphy, with his wife, Dr. Erika Murphy (Regina King) and their son, Michael (Jovan Adepo). Darius McCrary also has a recurring role as John’s friend, Isaac Rayney, a palm reader.

The Leftovers Season 2 will premiere this fall on HBO.
