Australia, you are finally being rewarded for sticking with Doctor Who through the highs and lows as The Doctor Who Festival is coming our way.
The BBC’s long-running TV series, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, will be transformed into a festival as it makes its way to Sydney for the first time after successful events in the UK.
It wouldn’t be a “Doctor Who” event without the man himself, and so yes the current, twelfth doctor Peter Capaldi will appear at the event. Capaldi was only in the country last year, when he was announced as the official replacement for Matt Smith.
Capaldi said in a statement, “Being unveiled as Doctor Who in Sydney at last year’s world tour, and meeting the fantastic Australian fans was such a cosmic, life changing experience that I’m thrilled to be coming back for a full weekend of Time Lord mania.”
It’s set to run from 21st to 22nd November at Sydney’s Royal Hall Of Industries and Hordern Pavilion and will basically bring the television series to life with props, costumes and real-life cast and crew members.
Producer and writer Steven Moffat’s appearance has been confirmed and he will explain the story-lines and detail how things go from script to screen. There are also make-up demonstrations and interactive workshops just incase you fancy becoming a “Doctor Who” monster at some point in your life.
It’s a jam-packed event and that unfortunately means that “Doctor Who” fans may have to go on a tight budget for a few weeks to afford the ticket. A general admission ticket is $195 but if you want the full-experience, including VIP tickets and a merchandise pack, you’ll be looking at $365 for a TARDIS pass.
