Russell Brand Heads Up Packed Just For Laughs Sydney Lineup

Sydney, you’ve got plenty of laughs coming your way with comedy festival Just For Laughs announcing a chock-a-block lineup headed by Russell Brand.

Just For Laughs is now in its fifth year, taking over the Sydney Opera House for a week and extending itself even further afield to the State Theatre and Qantas Credit Union Arena.

The ever-controversial Russell Brand will bring his “Trew World Order” show down-under, while hopefully also serving up some more on-point Tony Abbott burns. Brand has had a busy year mixing social commentary with comedy through his YouTube series “The Trews”, “The Russell Brand” podcast and cinematic documentary The Emperor’s New Clothes.

He won’t be the only one stirring lols. He’ll be joined by the likes of British comedy hero John Bishop, Aussie favourite and regular Danny Bhoy and the most comedic politician around Al Murray, otherwise known as The Pub Landlord.

In addition to that The Comedy Channel will be filming “Just For Laughs: The Stand Up Series” live, hosted by Dave Thornton. A slew of local and international guests are set to join in on the fun including Ronny Chieng, Cal Wilson, Hannah Gadsby and Joel Creasey.

It’s one of the festival’s finest lineups, which is a big feat given in the past they have brought Eddie Izzard, Rhys Darby, Kathy Griffin and Rob Schneider down-under.

The laughs are due to kick-off on 19 October with Al Murray before finishing up with Danny Bhoy on 28 October.

Tickets are on sale Monday, 6 July at 9am.
