Having only just realised the zombie on the cover of 2014 survival game Outlast looks exactly like Tony Abbott (decrepit flesh, reptilian posture and lifeless eyes included), the internet has erupted in rapture over the discovery, with gaming fans and would be politicos alike joining the melee of tweets and comments.
“Is it just me or does this cover art for Outlast on Xbox One look suspiciously like Tony Abbott? Spooky,” wrote Twitter user AgingGamer.
The startling resemblance, which let’s face is almost a mirror-like reflection of our raw onion eating former Prime Minister, soon fuelled a chorus of witting rejoinders from the anonymous ether of the internet.
“It’s Abbott in 400 years still looking to regain leadership” quipped Matteo Pantalone.
Some disagreed over the resemblance though, as Twitter user Motionworks argued “nah, that creature is way more handsome.”
However prize for best tweet has to go to Matthew da Silva, who joked that “in the next scene it eats a raw onion,” in reference to the now infamous onion eating episode of Tone’s David Brent-esque tenure as PM.
He wasn’t the only one though, as fellow Tweeter Terrence Chester also referenced the incident saying “the only thing #CaptainOnion has Outlasted is his Welcome”.
Anyway you can have a look at the tweets yourself here below.
