Now Everyone Can Become Twitter Verified: Here’s How to Get the Blue Tick

A new Twitter verification process effectively allows any of its users to become verified on the social network, with an application form making the entire process easier than ever before.

Getting a verified account on Twitter previously revolved around simply waiting it out for Twitter to find you and deem you worthy enough, but now a new process has been put in place that allows anyone to get their hands on that coveted blue tick, if they follow a series of instructions.

Twitter verification is only open to accounts that have the following:

  • A verified phone number
  • A confirmed email address
  • A bio
  • A profile photo
  • A header photo
  • A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization accounts)
  • A website
  • Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings

The company also states that it may request additional information, such as a scan of a passport or driver’s license, to confirm its users’ identities.

After ensuring that your account fits this criteria, you must then go to the request to verify an account form, where you’ll be asked to enter your Twitter username, provide links to at least two sites that help to confirm your identity, before explaining why your account should be verified by the social network. If you’re looking to get a corporate or brand account verified, Twitter will need you to provide a link to the email address of the account.

The verification request will then be sent to Twitter’s moderators, who will reply to each applicant individually in order to inform them of whether or not their account has been accepted. If your request is rejected, then you’re able to reapply for verification 30 days after being denied, so all is not lost if Twitter do not accept your initial request.
