SpaceX founder Elon Musk outlined his plans to make humans an interplanetary species yesterday, revealing how he wants to make us a “spacefaring civilization” and, ultimately, a “multi-planetary species.” It was all very impressive, very impressive stuff, with the entrepreneur essentially revealing how he would help us avoid our own inevitable extinction by eventually leaving our dying Earth behind. However, after all this talk of space exploration and Mars colonization, a full stop was put on the evening by Musk fielding questions from the audience, which was considerably less successful than his presentation.
Among the experts Musk addressed during his meeting, a few stragglers seemingly made their way into the meeting room, too, leading to a series of bizarre questions being lobbed in the billionaire’s direction. First there was a woman who plainly asked Musk if she could take him upstairs and “give him a kiss,” which was just the tip of this iceberg. This amorous individual was then followed by a nameless employee of comedy website Funny or Die, who decided a Q&A with Elon Musk would be the perfect time to plug his upcoming show, with him going on to ramble incoherently about how Michael Cera is the most expendable human being on the planet, and he should therefore be shot into space.
But this was nothing compared to a question Musk received from a self-confessed Burning Man attendee who, after lamenting about the festival’s lack of a sewage system, then went on to ask Musk how he would navigate the issue of being able to take a shit on Mars. As the Q&A segment progressed you could see the hope disappear from Musk’s eyes, as he probably began to question why he was even bothering trying to prevent humanity from going extinct.
You can watch the presentation below, with the timestamps for each of these ludicrous questions included at the bottom of the article.
