412 million porn and sex dating site user accounts have been compromised as a result of a far-reaching hack, in which various sites from the popular Friend Finder Network have been the subject of a security breach.

Exactly 412,214,295 users have been affected, according to the leak notification site Leaked Source. These include 339 million accounts from AdultFriendFinder.com, which calls itself the “world’s largest sex and swinger community,” 61 million from the live set chat site Cams.com and 7 million from the online adult magazine Penthouse. Other sites that have been hacked include Stripshow.com and iCams.com.

In information verified by ZDNet, it was discovered that a variety of personal data was gathered as a result of the hacks, including usernames, email address and IP addresses. VIP membership data has also been exposed, while 15 million deleted accounts across the network have also been uncovered.

AdultFriendFinder.com previously suffered a security breach back in 2015, with a hack causing 3 million accounts to be compromised. Fortunately less personal information has been obtained this time around, with the Friend Finder Network having released a statement explaining how they have thus far received only false extortion attempts as a result of the latest hack. The email, sent by the network’s vice president Diana Ballou to ZDNet, reads:

“Over the past several weeks, FriendFinder has received a number of reports regarding potential security vulnerabilities from a variety of sources. Immediately upon learning this information, we took several steps to review the situation and bring in the right external partners to support our investigation.

While a number of these claims proved to be false extortion attempts, we did identify and fix a vulnerability that was related to the ability to access source code through an injection vulnerability,” she said.

FriendFinder takes the security of its customer information seriously and will provide further updates as our investigation continues.”

There is no word yet on who is responsible for breach, but it is believed that an underground Russian hacker network could be to blame. According to reports, the hack was made possible after a security research known as Revolver exposed a Local File Inclusion vulnerability suffered by AdultFriendFinder. Revolver denies that he is behind the attack.
