Hotel Kakslauttanen in Saariselkä, Finland offers visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sleep in the thermal comfort of a glass igloo under the stars and sky in the Finnish climes, which can drop to -27°, with the hope that the Aurora Borealis will make an appearance. The glass igloos are thermally heated, meaning that you and one other person can share the small suite under the stars in warmth and luxury. The hotel doesn’t promise you’ll necessarily see the northern lights, though its positioned at one of the best places to view them and aurora season lasts 8 full months, from August to April. But it does promise a one of a kind sort of travel experience. The Igloo Village is set in the thick of a winter wood. Each glass igloo is fitted with two beds and a toilet and all the modern luxuries we’d expect of a hotel experience.

For those travelers hoping to rough it a little more authentically, the hotel has variations on the igloos that run from snow igloos to glass teepees. The snow igloos come equipped with warm down sleeping bags and wool socks to prepare for the freezing temperatures outside.
