It’s Monday again and all you can think about is how much you’ll get wasted during the weekend. No one likes Mondays and no matter how much you like your job, there’s never enough money. So, if you’re going to deprive yourself of sleep every morning, you might at least earn some serious dough. In light of that, here is a list of best paid jobs in the world to see if you can find your future career somewhere. It might take a lot of time and effort, but once you get there, it will be worth it. Take a look at the list and take a pick.

Pharmacist

The tenth place on the list goes out to pharmacists. In case you didn’t know, this is one of the hottest professions right now. Nowadays, people rely more and more on drugs (the legal ones) than anything else and this industry is simply soaring. This increase in demand also increased the salaries, so pharmacists are now among the top 10 professions with just over $120k of annual income.

Air Traffic Controller

You’ve probably seen those air traffic controllers in movies and TV shows, but never really paid attention to them. It seems like they’re only responsible for conveying bad news and warning about inevitable collisions. However, this is one of the best paid jobs in the world because of the responsibility it entails. Air traffic controllers are expected to keep track of hundreds of flights simultaneously with a zero room for error. They deserve every penny they get.

Data Scientist

Obviously, professions from the IT sector are still among the most popular and best paid jobs out there. Have you heard of data scientists? This is the latest and the hottest profession in the field because a lot of IT companies need help with the copious amount of data that needs to be sorted, analyzed, and so on. Keep in mind, though, that not all data scientists do the same work. It depends on their companies, but most of them earn nearly $125k annually.

Orthodontist

The orthodontist is at the seventh place with nearly $130k income. Now, you might ask yourself what is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist and the answer is quite simple. Dentistry is a broad term that includes all types of dental care. Orthodontists, on the other hand, focus on braces and teeth straightening and for this, they get quite a salary. To become one, you need to graduate dentistry and then specialize in this field. You can do it. We believe in you.

Petroleum Engineer

As much as we hate to admit it, the fact is that this world still uses quite a lot of petrol and it’s unlikely that this trend will end anytime soon. That is why, for now, the job of a petroleum engineer is among the best paid jobs out there. What does a petroleum engineer do? Well, he researches oil and natural gas, and finds new ways of using them efficiently. For this, they get a $130k salary.

Dentist

We’ve already mentioned orthodontists as one of the highest earners in the field, but the fact is that dentists earn more. According to a 2015 research, dentists earned about $146k that year. Everyone needs dental care and it’s unlikely that they will ever be out of a job. So, if you still haven’t decided, dentistry is quite a nice-paying career.

Corporate Executive

OK, this is not something you can just decide to be one day, but it’s a great goal to have. Senior corporate executives are the ones with a lot of money in expensive suits and with personal assistants. However, to get to that level where you earn just over $170k a year and drive lambourghinis around, you need to start from the bottom and carefully work your way up. Nothing happens at once.

General Practice Physician

The final three professions on our list are all from the health industry. The third place goes out to general practice physicians and it’s well-deserved. They’re your first line of defense when you get sick and possess a vast amount of knowledge about everything. It is said that they earn about $180k a year but it’s a strenuous, energy-consuming work.

Psychiatrist

Just as the movies suggested, psychiatry is also among the best paid jobs out there. Many people would say that these psychiatrists just “sell fog” to people who really need help, but that’s simply not true. A good psychiatrist can help out a lot if he knows what he’s doing. Mental health is equally important as physical.

Surgeon

Finally, the first profession on our list of best paid jobs in the world is a surgeon. These guys earn the outstanding $350k a year in various fields of medicine. Surgeons are always in demand as their skills literally and directly save lives. Of course, the wealthiest surgeons work in the private sectors and operate on celebrities and other important figures. If you have a steady hand and time to spare, why not dedicate your life to becoming a surgeon?
