While the iPhone X may be the best smartphone in many ways, its battery life is nothing to gush about. It’s fairly standard, and heavy use can see it deplete within a day. Of course, if you’re taking advantage of the wireless charging capability at your desk or in your car, then you’ll likely never see it drain entirely.
However, what if you don’t have access to a charger or a battery bank? What if you need to make that battery last as long as possible? Maybe it’s an emergency, or a spontaneous camping trip to the middle of nowhere! The answer to longer battery life is in the screen.
The iPhone X’s screen isn’t just a beautiful piece of engineering which marks a big step forward for Apple and mobile design in general, it also makes use of OLED technology.
As you may know, OLED screens tend to display more vivid colors and deeper blacks. It makes consuming media a joyful experience. However, that’s not the only advantage of OLED. It can also be used to save more battery.
Well, there’s a few things you can do to prolong battery life. Combine all of these tips to activate the ultimate power saving mode:
- Ensure “Lower Power Mode” is active (it is by default).
- Head to “Settings”, then “General”, then “Accessibility”, and then “Display Accommodations”.
- Press “Invert Colors” and then “Smart Invert”.
- Navigate to “Color Filters” and enable “Grayscale”.
Whether or not you follow the above tips, enabling the new black wallpaper is a very simple way of extending battery life. Head to “Settings”, “Wallpaper”, “Choose a New Wallpaper” and then “Stills” to find the true black background. Enable it for both the Home Screen and the Lock Screen and you’re golden!
