As awful as Walmart is most of the time, and as many fights that go down there, even I have to admit that sometimes they have the best prices. But you know what else Walmart does aside offering low prices (always)? They do weddings.
Over the weekend, Chrissy Slonaker Torres married Leida Torres in the garden center at the Walmart in West Manchester Township, Pa, where they met and where they both work, too.
According to USA Today, the couple met three years ago when Leida got a job as a manager at the Walmart where Chrissy also worked. Then the pair began to flirt with each other and eventually started dating. And when the couple decided to get married, their original wedding venue (their home) was changed after they realized a lot of their Walmart co-workers couldn’t take off work. So of course, the new venue was Walmart.

“We both have a lot of really close friends that we call family in our Walmart store,” Chrissy said. “We discussed it with the store manager and the home office so that everybody in our store — everybody that we share our lives with — can be a part of the wedding.”
More than 100 people showed up to the “Walmart Wedding” in order to celebrate with the couple, and hopefully get some toilet paper on sale, too. And while the couple got some negative comments about their choice of venue, Chrissy had this to say:
“You shouldn’t judge something by the way it looks because there could be a beautiful story behind it. We met in Walmart, we fell in love at Walmart. We could’ve gotten married any other place, but we chose to get married at Walmart.”
No word yet if Walmart made them work their shift immediately afterwards but I’m going to assume they did. With no lunch break either.
