Eminem can now add “restauranteur” to his resume. The rapper formerly known as Marshall Mathers is opening an eatery in his native Detroit, and the name and menu theme come directly from a line in his hit Lose Yourself.
Did you guess what it is yet? Mom’s Spaghetti. Yup, the 48-year-old Grammy award-winner is focusing on Italian fare.
As you may recall from the 8 Mile tune, Slim Shady raps: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.”
While that’s not exactly an appetite-stoking visual, the menu looks enticing enough, and the food is certainly affordable. Mom’s Spaghetti is available with ($12) or without ($9) meatballs. Or you could try The S’getti Sandwich ($11).
Eminem previously tested his recipes at a Mom’s Spaghetti pop-up at Detroit’s music venue the Shelter in 2017. He also shared his signature pasta with frontline workers at Henry Ford and DMC hospitals in April.
Even if you’re not in the mood for pasta, there’s still something for you at the new venture. Above the restaurant, you’ll find The Trailer, a store for Eminem stans that sells merch and memorabilia.
So the next time you’re in Detroit, put Mom’s Spaghetti on the itinerary. Hopefully, your dinner won’t end up all over your sweater. But if it does, you could always make a rap out of it.
