The iPhone 6 could boast a resolution that triples the display of current iPhones.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is testing a 1704 x 960 display for the upcoming iPhone 6, which is triple the 568 x 320 resolution of current iPhones on the market.
It has already been stated by several previous reports that the iPhone 6’s screen would be larger to place it in competition with Samsung’s Galaxy series, though the exact specifications of the display have yet to be revealed. However, if this new report is to be believed then the iPhone 6’s display will almost reach full HD quality which, in layman’s terms, means that it will look very pretty indeed.
The report notes that this new resolution would still see mean that the iPhone 6 would have a 16×9 aspect ratio, but that this display will now appear on a taller and wider display. The report also cites sources who claim that the iPhone 6 will be scaled with a pixel-tripling 3X mode, and will feature denser screens that enhance the display’s overall sharpness.
Though Apple will obviously be testing a variety of resolutions before it officially announces the iPhone 6, given that the current trend with smartphones is larger, higher quality displays, it seems likely that this report is an accurate one.
