The Road Glide is back, and it’s departure was short lived.
A couple different factors through a shroud over the famous model. Last year was Harley-Davidson’s 110th birthday, and the anniversary celebration was a global affair. Meanwhile, Milwaukee’s motorcycle maker introduced its Project Rushmore rider input program for the 2014 model year — putting that personalization plan front and center. There wasn’t much room left on the Harley-Davidson plate for the old Road Glide.

The Harley-Davidson touring motorcycle has always been a popular ride amidst the touring bike crowd. For those riders looking for a big, comfortable machine that’ll keep a rider’s arse speaking to him or her while the countless miles roll. Now, it’s returning to the Harley-Davidson line in the 2015 model year.
A closer look makes it obvious that the success of Project Rushmore with more rider-friendly tech pouring into the new Road Glide. The bike receives the Rushmore Boombox Infotainment system with a 4.3 inch, dash mounted display with AM/FM, Weather radio and a USB for iPhone charging and navigation. A 6.5 inch touchscreen offers its own GPS as an option, with a pair of joysticks controls the entire system.
Even with these changes, the spirit of the Road Glide remains the same. It’s a beefy, upright, cushy motorcycle designed for maximum rider comfort. It’s also on the heavy side and not for getting your knee down. For the lovers of long cruise riding over speedy thrills, the reborn Road Glide will remain a dream bike.
