The coolest trend by far at The Gentlemen’s Expo is the rise of the subscription box services, companies that specialize in specific goods that are curated each month and sent to your door.
The most pertinent service to my interests is the Carnivore Club, the meat of the month club that is much more than that title can rightfully describe. Each month, Carnivore Club puts together a collection of meats from all over the world and sends them to your door. Not only do they get the meat to you, they also provide recipes, as well as proper food and drink pairings for the meat. Take the Christmas box they are sending this year, which comes with the option of including a Humidor with purchase. The Christmas box also contains serrano ham, a Spanish ham that might be the greatest deli meat of them all. The box is worth the ham alone, and can serve as an excellent starter into the Carnivore Club world.
On the other side of the food and drink spectrum is the Brew Box Co., a craft beer subscription service. Working out of Toronto, Brew Box focuses mostly on bringing smaller craft breweries around Ontario to you. What you notice almost immediately about these guys is how much they really, truly love craft beers, and how they want to take the dedication and time they’ve put into this product and give you interesting and new beers that the average beer drinker might not get a chance to try.
The most attractive idea in these services is that they offer a curated sample of high-end products. The average meat-lover or beer-drinker might not have the time to go out and explore all the options, and also might not feel up to finding these great brands. These clubs then work in the same way that financial advisors do, giving people the best options for their meat or beer or clothing or any other multitude of products.
