Personal mobility is a major theme at CES 2016, and CycleBoard is, well, onboard to unveil its Street Surfer – a standup, three-wheeled electric scooter with a “leantosteer” system.
The trend toward small, non-gas powered individual vehicles for short commutes ran up to CES 2016 as the hover board craze hit Christmas. Now, the world’s biggest consumer electronics expo is maintaining the buzz with multiple new vehicles like this CycleBoard entry.
Fully rechargeable, with a three-wheel design and a 8.5 x 24-inch riding deck, the Street Surfer lets the user pick the riding position, including front-faced riding, longboard style and snowboard style.

“Leantosteer” refers to modern personal mobility vehicles that use the ergonomics of body movements for navigation. From roller skates to motorcycles, vehicles have been using some form of Leantosteer for decades.
A first to the personal mobility market feature for the Street Surfer is personalization. Owners can choose between a variety of swappable riding decks to choose from — each with a different finish and feel.
The Street Surfer folds up and fits into small closets and car trunks. The handle also folds down, allowing the Street Surfer to be transported in “Trolley Mode” onto trains and buses.
On display for the first time at CES 2016, Street Surfers will be available via a Kickstarter campaign in the following weeks for early adopters to preorder their scooters.
