Maison et Objet | Ateliers C&S Davoy: Magnificent Macabre

Ateliers C&S Davoy prides itself as a luxury collection that curates oddities. Imagine Tim Burton and Indiana Jones sat down by a campfire swapping adventure tales and eventually settled upon the idea of conceptualizing a lush luxury interior. You’d find much of what you’d find in the C&S Davoy’s exhibit at Maison et Objet: shrunken heads with a bronze varnish, perfectly preserved butterflies and centipedes in crystal cases, taxidermied falcons with wings outstretched to the heavens, steel arm chairs with plush leather cushions, and traditionally rendered bureaus and lamps offset with a host of strange mystery items collected from remote corners of the world.

The look is dark – noir even. But juxtaposed against office furniture perfect for world travellers and adventurers, nothing seems out of place. Almost museum-like in its presentation, C&S Davoy undoubtedly has a finger on their demographic. Not for the faint of heart nor for the timid, a sense of brave cheekiness and chic worldliness bridge the C&S Davoy lookbook of undiscovered wonders with traditional work and living spaces.
