Apple is all about staying young, hip and coming across like they know everything, which is probably the reason they are one of the most profitable and successful companies on the planet. But even a company that is worth billions still has issues. Especially when it comes to glass doors.
Apple’s new campus, Apple Park, has recently received reports of people walking into the glass doors that surround all of Apple’s buildings. Cupertino’s building official Albert Salvador said he was “worried” people weren’t able to tell the difference between an automatic door and a window. Well, Albert was right. Not only did people run into the walls and injured themselves, but police was called about these incidents.
Transcripts from three different incidents were revealed to prove these calls actually happened. The one below is all about a man who cut his head.
Caller:
We had an individual who ran into a glass wall pane and they hit their head. They have a small cut on their head and they are bleeding, slightly disoriented. We have on site security with them right now.
Dispatcher: Are you with the patient now?
Caller: No, I am not with the patient. We are trying to have a security unit call in right now so I connect you over.
Dispatcher: How old is the patient?
Caller: Late 20s.
Dispatcher: Is the patient male or female?
Caller: Male.
Dispatcher: Is he awake?
Caller: He is conscious.
Dispatcher: Is he breathing?
Caller: That we do not know. Yes, yes, he’s conscious and breathing.
Dispatcher: Let me go ahead here and update the paramedics. When did this happen?
Caller: It happened around five minutes ago. Around 12:05.
Dispatcher: Is there any serious bleeding?
Caller: Yes, from the head.
Dispatcher: Is he completely alert?
Caller: Yes.
The other call below occurred after an Apple employee also cut his forehead:
Caller:
OK. So we had an employee, he was on campus and he walked into a glass window, hitting his head, has a little bit of a cut on the eyebrow.
Dispatcher: OK, are you with the patient now?
Caller: Uh, no. I’m calling from our call center. We have security on site with the patient.
Dispatcher: OK, how old is the patient?
Caller: Um, unknown.
Dispatcher: OK, is the patient male or female?
Caller: It’s going to be a male, adult.
Dispatcher: Is he awake?
Caller: Yes.
Dispatcher: Is he breathing?
Caller: Yes.
The other call is more of the same, just a “genius” walking into another wall. But let’s be honest, I can poke fun all I want but I know that those glass walls need some massive stickers on them because I’ve had a few close calls myself. And I once ran into a glass door at work and I know how quickly that can suck the coolness out of you. I still haven’t gotten over it.
Apple actually put some Post-it notes on the walls to prevent more injuries, but quickly removed them because they took away from the building’s design. In conclusion, we shall await more injuries.
