While It (2017) became a huge horror hit despite not having a single huge name attached to the project (besides it being a Stephen King story), the announced sequal is arming itself with big names. Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to star in New Line’s sequel, as reported by Variety.
One of the best movies of 2017 relied heavily on child actors, but in the sequel Jessica is to be playing the adult version of Beverly, although the script isn’t yet finalized. While it is announced that the kids would return to the project for the flashback scenes.
The sequel, so far named It: Chapter 2, is expected in September of 2019 and while Chastain still isn’t a sure lock, the director Andy Muschietti will return to the franchise. One of the writers Gary Dauberman will also return to the movie that was one of the biggest hits of last year at the box office.
Chastain has already worked with the director in his first studio hit Mama (2013), also a horror movie.
