Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has shared a photograph of what the band looked like in 1994, in order to celebrate their 20-year anniversary.
The trio, who formed the band as teenagers in the early ’90s, are now working on seventh LP following the release of The 2nd Law. In order to commemorate their “birthday” yesterday, Bellamy posted the below image on Twitter, accompanied by the caption “20 years ago.”
The band’s excursion into dubstep with their last album has led to Bellamy promising that their follow-up LP will be more “heavy.” Speaking to Rolling Stone, the singer/guitarist said: “I have this strong feeling that the next album should be something that really does strip away the additional things that we’ve experimented with on the last two albums, which is electronics, symphonics and orchestral work and all that kind of stuff. It will be nice to reconnect and remind ourselves of just the basics of who we are.”

A petition was set up by fans for the band to play a homecoming gig in Teignmouth, with it having received 1,552 signatures. Karen Green, the organiser of the petition, stated that “it would be fun for both the Muse boys and their fans to play at a venue with no expensive productions involved”. The band haven’t commented on the petition.
