Asking Alexandria have just dropped the motherload. Not only has the band confirmed the secret identity of their new frontman as Denis Shaforostov, formerly of Ukrainian metalcore act Make Me Famous, they’ve also let rip a brand new track with him on vocals. It’s called “I Won’t Give In” and it’s a fucking belter.
Shaforostov takes over mic duties from founding frontman Danny Worsnop, who quit Asking Alexandria earlier this year to focus on his side-project, We Are Harlot.
After announcing Worsnop’s departure, the English metalcore giants immediately dusted themselves off, promising fans they would “not be slowing down”.
“We are going to tour harder than ever and we are going to write the greatest record of our career,” the said. “This isn’t the end, this is the start of a whole new chapter. This is where we come together and make history.”
And it seems, the band has made good on that promise, ploughing ahead with Shaforostov who’s old band, as Blabbermouth reports, were stylistically so similar to Asking Alexandria that they were frequently accused of copying their sound.
“I can’t even begin to explain how stoked I am about new Asking Alexandria and our new album,” Shaforostov posted on Instagram. “Ben, James, Sam, Cam and me have been working on it very hard for the past couple of months and we couldn’t be happier with the result.
“We’ve put our hearts and souls into this record, it’s done for YOU. Trust me, it’s something absolutely mind-blowing and I’m sure it’s going to please every single member of ‘AAFamily’,” he continued. “Those, [who’ve] been with the guys since the day one and those who just recently joined this strong and unbelievably supportive family!”
“I’m extremely excited to unleash the beast the new ASKING ALEXANDRIA is! We’re on the edge of a whole new journey and it couldn’t feel any better.”
So it seems a new Asking Alexandria album is well on the way! Check out “I Won’t Give In”, along with Shaforostov’s full statement, below.
