The entire nation is painted in rainbows after the Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage is legal across all 50 states. It’s an incredible day for equality, for sanity, for love and the legal and societal legitimacy of people whose only desire is to be granted basic rights and protections by law of marriage.
Naturally, many far-right conservatives are up in arms on the issue, including a ridiculously scathing rebuttal by Supreme Court Justice Scalia himself. But it’s fascinating to note that all the apocalyptic foretelling of those same wild-eyed Bible-thumping ignoramuses has had little true value – across the nation the skies were blue, and life was as vibrant on this day as any in recent memory, with rainbow-laced celebrations of equality literally filled the streets.
In a remarkably and hilariously outspoken statement on Facebook, Maynard James Keenan – singer for Tool, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and beyond – called out the doomsday evangelists and lunatics who claimed this long overdue historical milestone would signal the End Times:
Well said. Now where’s that damn Tool album?
