Sometimes people get drunk and go completely bonkers on their Uber driver, and sometimes, in the case of Kenneth Bachman, you get absolutely trashed and order an Uber XL to drive you 300 miles.
It all kicked off when Bachman, a New Jersey native, found himself hanging out with his pals near West Virginia University’s campus. Bachman remembered going to a frat party and then it all went downhill from there. How downhill? Well Bachman ended up ordering an Uber to drive him home, a ride that concluded with a $1,635.93 bill.
“We went to a frat party and then went to the bar. I was getting drinks all night; I probably spent like $200 at the bar after already drinking all day,” Bachman said. “Basically, I kinda just blacked out. The last thing I remember was being at the bar and then I just woke up in the Uber next to an older dude telling me I was an hour out from Jersey.”
“I was just like…that’s crazy why did you agree to take me to New Jersey from West Virginia?” Bachman remembers telling his driver
But it only gets worse for Bachman as he had to pay the following:
$3.94 base fare.
$2.35 booking fee.
$696.95 for distance and $115 for time.
Plus tolls (the driver didn’t have cash).
So remember, kids. If you’re going to get drunk make sure you make plans ahead of time to either get a ride from a friend or stay at a friend’s place. If those are not options, make sure you only order a local Uber ride.
