Meanwhile at Comic-Con: Adam Driver Discovers True Force That Is Star Wars Fans Intensity, Unlikely to Ever Return

Anyone who’s ever been to Comic-Con knows that the photos do not do it justice. There’s something truly next level when you pack a convention center with nerds who, it turns out, rarely bathe. It’s a smell like no other. More than the smell, there’s an obsession that permeates the halls that can never be described and only experienced. Meanwhile, Adam Driver didn’t realize any of this when he signed on to star as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels.

Driver learned, like everyone in a blockbuster franchise who’d never been before, that the cretins of Comic-Con have no boundaries. They simply must consume. It turns out, the 38-year-old actor hated it. Not just the experience, but every part of the spectacle known as Comic-Con. Driver explained his experience to talk show host Graham Norton saying:

“I didn’t know the rules of Comic-Con. I got in at the hotel at two in the morning… and I’m like, ‘Maybe tomorrow I’ll go get a coffee.’ And they’re like, ‘Oh no, you can’t get a coffee.’ I’m like, ‘Well, maybe I’ll get a coffee in the hotel.’ They’re like, ‘No, you can’t get a coffee in the hotel.’ They’re like, ‘If you want to go outside, put a mask on so nobody knows who you are.’”

“I opened my window, because I’d been in the room for 24-hours before this thing we were supposed to do.” Driver continued, “and then there was a band at the bottom of the building playing the ‘Star Wars’ theme on repeat, because we [the cast] were all staying in the hotel. It was scary… I saw what it was. I mean, it’s nice. [But] I’m not anxious to go again.”

In conclusion, having your freedom impeded by thousands of stinky nerds is probably terrifying.  So I’m sending thoughts and prayers out to Driver who probably has PTSD from the whole Comic-Con experience.
