Production Begins On Hit Drama Remedy

The highly-anticipated new Global TV drama “Remedy” has started production.

The original series, which is being filmed in Toronto and Hamilton, will shoot until January 2014. It stars Enrico Colantoni (“Person of Interest”), Sarah Allen (“The Best Laid Plans”), and Sara Canning (“Primeval: New World,” “The Vampire Diaries”).

As an official press release explained, “The high stakes, prime-time medical drama promises a distinctive ‘upstairs/downstairs’ glimpse behind the scenes of a downtown hospital, and goes beyond the OR and the ER to reveal the compelling community who together make the healing happen.” The series follows Griffin Conner, son of the Acting Chief of Staff, and brother to the strong and resourceful Sandy an ICU nurse, and the highly disciplined, perfectionist Melissa, a general surgeon. A med school dropout, having left in a haze of disgrace, Griffin is forced to return to Bethune General Hospital as its newest orderly. Working “downstairs” alongside a cast of colourful characters, Griffin gets a new perspective on a world he thought he knew.

“The production team has assembled a fiercely talented cast who will bring [series creator] Greg Spottiswood’s brilliant vision to life,” said Barbara Williams, Shaw Media’s Senior Vice President, Content, in a statement (as reported by ET Canada). “We’re looking forward to going to camera on this refreshing new series.”

“You can’t make compelling television without great writing, an outstanding cast, and the support and encouragement of your network,” added Remedy executive producer (and president of Indian Grove Productions) Bernie Zukerman. “Fortunately for us, we have all three.”

A premiere date has still not been announced.
