Preview: Deadpool #27 – The Merc With A Wife

Deadpool #27 promises to be an extravaganza of fresh new directions from current writers Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn, as well as awesome nostalgia. Not only is Wade Wilson getting married to an adorable succubus named Shiklah (if you haven’t been reading Deadpool: The Gauntlet digital style, you should), but Marvel’s bringing in a cavalcade of writers from Deadpools Past to contribute new stories.

We’re talking original co-creator and Cable & Deadpool writer Fabian Nicieza (and without Rob Liefeld!). We’re talking “Sins of the Past” writer Mark Waid, we’re talking first ongoing series writer and guy who made Deadpool what he is today, Joe Kelly. We’re talking his game successor and “Seinfeld with Supervillains” scribe Christopher Priest, we’re talking Jimmy Palmiotti, Frank Tieri and even Gail Simone, who got her start a decade ago by finishing out Deadpool’s original series and bringing in the whole Agent X thing – and she’s working with Alvin Lee, the same artist she worked with then! Not to mention Daniel Way and Victor Gischler.

Along with Lee, artists will include the fantastic Scott Koblish (who has done the incredible ‘time capsule‘ issues in the current series), Mike Hawthorne, Dexter Soy, Scott Hepburn, John McCrea, Paco Medina, Nico Henrichon, John Timms, Carlo Barberi, and my new favorite artist name, Bong Dazo. THAT’S DOCTOR BONG DAZO TO YOU.

Check out this preview of Deadpool #27, featuring an amazing cover from amazing DP artist Koblish, as well as variants from Mark Brooks, Art Adams and Matthew Waite – and seriously, if no nerds out there make a video game of the Taco Time variant, you are not quality nerds. Also, holy crap, that Brooks variant is possibly the most Copycat has ever been featured on a cover anywhere – at least since Tieri killed her off in a gorilla cage at the zoo, thanks to Sabertooth. Still waiting for Wade to give Creed a savage beatdown for that…
