The highlight of the new The Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was that you got to hear Chris Pratt’s sidekicks – Rocket Raccoon and Groot – speak.
With some formative plot details of Jurassic World revealed, it appears that Pratt will also have some sidekicks in the fourth Jurassic Park installment — and we’ll similarly have to wait to see how they pull this off. According to JoBlo, Pratt’s sidekicks will be Tyrannosaurus Rex(es?) and velociraptors.
Pratt will play be a dino-tamer, which we can’t really visualize, but it does sound awesome and kinda makes sense since Jurassic World is returning to the dinosaurs as the amusement at an amusement park idea. What we can already visualize is the wide-eyed Pratt dropping enthusiastic one-liners about how much he loves his job: teaching fetch or audience waves to the big bad dinosaurs.
But these dinosaurs are “good”. That’s where the report at JoBlo gets a little head scratchy. If the trained dinosaurs are good then which ones, lord help us, are “bad”?
It seems that the corporate bosses in charge of Jurassic World do not have the natural sense of wonder of Jurassic Park founder, John Hammond (Richard Attenborough, in the original Jurassic Park). While attendance is at an all-time high at Jurassic World the execs are already thinking of how to keep people coming back — because apparently in the future we’re all assholes who demand more entertainment from the dinosaurs we’ve brought back to life for our amusement after being wiped out 66 million years ago — and they’ve decided that splicing together different species’ DNA will create new attractions. Those are the “bad” dinosaurs. Something obviously goes awry to have the “good” dinosaurs/”bad” dinosaurs distinction. And that means they’ll probably fight. Maybe Pratt is already practicing his Ken Watanabe, “Let them fight!” line from Godzilla.
In the corners of the internet some are upset — but people are upset in every corner of the internet — at the idea of new dinosaurs being made. But this is the fourth film in the franchise, and much like the evil execs of Jurassic World, the evil film execs have to come up with new ideas to make this Jurassic amusement park different from the first one.
We’ll reserve any judgment until we start seeing teasers. If you are an angry person of the internet — or excited person of the internet — we welcome you to the comment section to explain why. Does dino-taming/new dinosaurs enhance or temper your excitement?
What about this Richard Attenborough-narrated clip about the cuttlefish? Apparently there’s a clue to skin type.
Sound off below.
Jurassic World will be in theaters June 12, 2015.
