Details have emerged about the potential Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff on ABC. And it’s going to feature some familiar faces.
Deadline is reporting that Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood are close to finalizing deals to headline the currently untitled Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff as Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Lance Hunter, respectively. Both Blood and Palicki joined Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. during the second season and have been widely credited as being a major part of that series’ creative turnaround.
On the show, Hunter and Bobbi are ex-husband and wife who are on opposing factions of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the current storyline. Presumably the events of the second season will eventually put Bobbi and Hunter back on the same side to set up the potential spinoff. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Bobbi was the partner and wife (and later ex-wife) to Hawkeye, a long time Avenger.
The report notes that ABC is not going to greenlight the Bobbi and Hunter spinoff without a script, which currently doesn’t exist. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski are spearheading the spinoff, with Zbyszewski set to be the showrunner if it gets picked up.

It’s not clear if the new Bobbi and Hunter led show would replace Agent Carter as a midseason series, which is on the bubble for renewal at ABC.
However, the report did indicate that John Ridley’s recently announced Marvel TV series for ABC is not the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff. Instead, Ridley is focusing on a different Marvel adaptation that is heavily rumored to be about the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel. The Ms. Marvel comic book series has been a hit for Marvel, and Kamala Khan is one of the company’s most recent breakout characters.
