Screengrab: Kickstarter
Have you ever been eating a hot dog or a sandwich and said this, “Boy, I sure wish I had a few slices of ketchup”? No? Didn’t think so. But even with that said a woman named Emily Williams is trying to bring just that to the marketplace.
According to Maxim, Williams currently has a Kickstarter campaign going for Slice of Sauce™, an “All-Natural, No-Mess ‘Slice’ of Ketchup.”
Who wants to put sauce on their food when you can have a slice? And apparently people are on board as the campaign has already exceeded the $15,000 goal (it’s currently at over $19,000). According to Kickstarter, here’s what this slice of ketchup is all about:
Slice of Sauce™ is an update to ordinary condiments. The slice is a tantalizing layer of flavor and lets you enjoy a perfect portion with every bite.
We’ve got a clean label. Our ingredients are non-GMO, gluten-free, all-natural with no artificial flavors, preservatives, or high-fructose corn syrup.
It’s so easy to add a slice. Because it’s in slice form, there’s no sticky mess or soggy bread, no “liquidy” separation and no uneven squeezing from a part-empty bottle like with many traditional condiments.
Take it anywhere. Slice of Sauce™ needs no refrigeration, so it’s great for lunchboxes, picnics, barbeques, hiking and camping, lunches at your desk or eating on the go.
Convinced? Well, while it’s getting financially backed, some people are still not fans of it:
I just discovered something called a ketchup slice and it’s an absolute abomination. A crime. Just don’t do it. I don’t want a ketchup fruit roll-up or anything that resembles a processed slice of ketchup. If someone I know is using this new product, I will disown them in public. pic.twitter.com/sSf9heIbkd

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Long live @KraftHeinzCo squeeze bottle!

A slice of ketchup? I can see it now:

On the plus side if some of it fell out of your sandwich while looking over Picasso’s cubism work, it would blend in naturally unlike that regular squiggly ketchup 😉

Exactly the face I made at the thought of a “sheet / slice of ketchup”, nasty. pic.twitter.com/8ugSvKgaLI
