Martha Stewart is a bit of an enigma. Despite having the appearance of a wholesome all-American personality, she has some surprising tastes. Aside from the fact that she loves Weed (surprise!) and once owned a pony named “Ben Chunch,” Stewart is also a bit of a thirst trap (have you seen her Instagram? How is this woman 80?). While the Omnimedia personality is probably best known for her 2004 stock trading scandal, which landed her some serious jail time, Stewart is in the news for an entirely different reason.
Although Martha Stewart has had an interesting relationship history, she recently confirmed that she dated Anthony Hopkins. While this had been rumored in the past, Stewart recently confirmed that she broke up with the Oscar-winning actor because she couldn’t unsee Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter. Ironically enough, this confirmation came to light on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the Hannibal Lecter of daytime talk shows.
During a game of “two truths and a lie” one of the clues said, “I dated Sir Anthony Hopkins but broke up with him because I couldn’t stop thinking of him as Hannibal Lecter”. Stewart couldn’t deny this allegation, adding “I have a big, scary house in Maine that’s way by itself on 100 acres in the forest, and I couldn’t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there. I couldn’t—all I could think of was him eating, you know…” No, we don’t know Martha, please do tell.
Stewart, now in her 80s, also admitted that they “went out to dinner a few times,” but was insistent that “a girl should never kiss and tell”. We beg to differ. Although it’s not entirely clear when the two dated, Stewart has remained single and ready to mingle ever since. It seems obvious that she went to jail after this period in her life, so it goes without saying that maybe she should have taken notes on Lecter’s methods for escaping incarceration instead of being put off by them.
