Let’s all talk about how a 33-year-old woman named Toscha Sponsler had quite the day. It all kicked off when Sponsler was approached by police as a shoplifting suspect after reports of Sponsler stealing merchandise from Ulta came in. And well Sponsler wasn’t in the mood to head to jail because she ran off on foot, but was caught eventually by police, arrested and tossed in the back of a police car.
And that was when the chaos began.
In a viral video shared by the Lufkin Police Department, Sponsler can be seen messing with her handcuffs and trying to slip out of them. And she’s successful, as she hops over into the driver’s seat, steals the cop car and leads cops on a 23-minute wild chase.
Check it out below. Her escape kicks off at the 15-second mark.
What an escape. Sponsler reaches speeds up to 100 mph during the chase before being caught by police once again. And arrested. Again.
“Sponsler led units down Loop 287 to 69 south, nearly colliding head-on with two Lufkin officers, Constable Chad Wilson and numerous motorists,” Lufkin Police Department Media Specialist Pebsworth stated in a Saturday press release. “Officers saw her continually reaching for/fumbling with the officer’s shotgun, which is mechanically locked inside the vehicle.”
Sponsler now faces charges including escape causing serious bodily injury/threat of a deadly weapon, aggravated assault against a public servant, possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest with a vehicle with a previous conviction and unauthorized use of a vehicle.”
And this is all because she didn’t want to get hit with a shoplifting charge.
