Colombian Sandra Milena Almeida is in the news for one reason and one reason only, and it’s not for giving a lot of money to charity. In fact, it’s for swallowing money — $7,000 of it. Why? Almeida discovered her husband had cheated on her, so in a desperate bid to hide the money from him she hid where no one could find it.
The couple was saving the money up for a vacation, but after Almeida’s husband cheated, she decided that the next logical move would be to swallow numerous rolls of $100 bills in a “fit of rage.” And of course, Almeida was rushed to the hospital the next day with severe stomach pains. That happens when you swallow money.

While she didn’t tell the doctors at Santander University Hospital about the money, X-ray images of course showed the money as clear as day. And doctors were able to save $5,700 of it after they cleaned the bills and dried them. Gross.
“We took the patient into surgery for two procedures to clear the blockage, on her stomach and intestine,” Juan Pablo Serrano, chief surgeon at the hospital said. “The dollar notes were washed and are in good condition, but the rest of the money was lost because of the gastric fluids.”
Then again, swallowing your money sounds like a better way to manage your money compared to how a lot of banks manage your cash.
