Vending machines are nothing new. It seems that for as long as there have been soda, potato chips, and other salty snacks, there have been vending machines. In the US, most vending machines are fairly simple with staples like cookies, candy, salty foods, and drinks. That’s about it. Sure, you’ll find a random bacon vending machine or a machine that serves slices of cake. But otherwise, they’re pretty basic.

This isn’t the case in Japan, where vending machines are everywhere and seemingly serve everything. Everyone knows the stories of full meals, elaborate toys, electronics, used underpants, and other odd, random things. But did you know that now there’s a vending machine in Japan that serves wagyu beef?

For the uninitiated, wagyu beef is a Japanese beef well-known for its high-quality, fat marbling, and is commonly referred to as the best meat in the world. According to Japan’s SoraNews24, there is actually a wagyu beef vending machine in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.

The machine has various cuts of meat including hamburger steak for around $13, shoulder roast for $15.90, thinly sliced shoulder roast for $15, and sirloin steak for the surprisingly low price of $14. Each piece of meat comes in a vacuum-sealed package to ensure freshness.

We’re not sure exactly where Toyota City is, but if you find yourself in Japan any time soon and in the general area, you can grab a fresh wagyu beef steak any time of day. Got a hankering for one in the middle of the night? This vending machine means you’ll have no fear that the local grocery store is closed. That is as long you simply want a piece of high-quality meat and nothing else.
