On the Richter scale of bad parenting, there is a definite hierarchy. For instance, if you regularly feed your kid McDonald’s, you’re kind of a shitty parent. But if you regularly feed your kid McDonald’s and then order them to open fire on police who are arresting you for brandishing a deadly weapon, you’re probably the worst parent in your tri-state area.
What started off as a very exciting trip to the drive-thru ended in tragedy after Saadat Shamille Johnson, 27, lost his composure upon discovering he’d received the wrong order. While we applaud Johnson for checking that his order was correct before leaving the checkout window, we can’t endorse the way he raised the issue with McDonald’s employees.
Johnson became so enraged at the mistake, he pulled a gun on staff members. To their credit, McDonald’s staff kept their cool and calmly asked Johnson to park his car so they could fix his order. Then they dialed 911. When Salt Lake City police arrived to take Johnson into custody, eyewitnesses claim he handed the gun to his 4-year-old son in the backseat with instructions to shoot the cops.
Inconceivably, the boy raised the gun and pulled the trigger. Thankfully, a quick-thinking officer was able to knock the gun from the boy’s hands just as the shot went off, sending the bullet up into the drive-thru awning. He then stopped police from returning fire, saving the lives of the boy and his little sister.
Sgt. Melody Cutler said the incident was a first: “I’ve been in law enforcement for 27 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. That a 4-year-old even knows how to utilize a firearm and point it at an officer and pull the trigger is incredibly disturbing.”
Seriously. Happy Meals will never be the same again.
