Holy War: Gun-Loving Religious Sect Buys Massive Land, Promises the Worst of Both Worlds

Well, if your 2021 Bingo card had a gun-centric religious cult starting a training center, you’d be one step ahead of the rest of us. However, you wouldn’t be ahead of Rod of Iron Ministries, the gun-loving spinoff of the Unification Church. They recently purchased 130-acres in Tennessee to serve as a combination “training center” and holy ground, which is somehow less cool than the combination Taco Bell — Pizza Hut.

The Unification Church was founded by the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon, his son, Hyung Jin “Sean” Moon, is the brainchild behind Rod Iron Ministries. Moon says that the property’s function will be to primarily replace Unification Church’s spiritual retreat, Cheongpyeong, which is located in South Korea. Yearly, thousands of Moonies aka Moon’s followers, make the voyage overseas to submit to what comes down to costly beatings. These beatings are designed to exorcise “evil spirits,” better known as “ancestor liberation” or “ansu” for short.

The new compound will mitigate the need for gun-loving Moonies to travel to South Korea for these beatings and instead can have the crap kicked out of themselves stateside. This will also allow for the Moonies to save on the costly trips, so they can instead give this hard-earned cash to Rod of Iron Ministries… since these beatings still cost money. Because of course, they do! Beatings done well aren’t cheap. If you’re interested in getting your ancestors beaten out of you, you have to fill out a form on Moon’s website and then you need to donate money. Don’t worry, Rod of Iron Ministries takes check, wire, cash or Paypal.
