Meanwhile in Arkansas: 1,000 Dead Rodents Found at Dollar Store, Just a Few More For Free Keychain

You get what you pay for, right? So when you shop at a dollar store, your expectations are pretty low. Dare we say gutter-level low. But even this shocking story is pretty gross for a bargain basement retailer.

We’re talking about the recent discovery of more than 1,000 rodents at a Family Dollar distribution center in Arkansas. They were found during a US Food and Drug Administration investigation that was prompted by a consumer complaint.

In addition to live and dead rats, investigators happened upon “rodent feces and urine, evidence of gnawing, nesting and rodent odors throughout the facility, dead birds and bird droppings, and products stored in conditions that did not protect against contamination,” according to an FDA report.

Since the stomach-churning discovery, Family Dollar has recalled everything from drugs, dietary supplements, and medical devices to cosmetics and human and animal food products. Potentially contaminated products include those purchased from Jan. 1, 2022 through the present at stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

Dare we say that if you’re buying drugs or food from somewhere like Family Dollar, you already know you’re taking your chances…and you probably have bigger problems than a little rat poop.
