When we were teens, we would’ve killed to have parents who shared their drugs with us. That, or at least parents who didn’t prevent us from getting high. But maybe moms and dads with a no-tolerance policy when it comes to drugs are actually better. We say this because of a recent story about a Florida mother who may have gone too far with her laissez-faire approach to mind-altering substances.
Her name is Cheryl Ann Asiq, and the 38-year-old Pasco County resident has a 14-year-old son. Apparently, she thought a little meth would help him relax. So she allegedly held heated methamphetamine on foil while her son took a hit of the vapors through a straw.
This happened three separate times in as many days. But a family member who called the house and talked to the teen suspected something was up. In fact, they said he was hallucinating. Mommy dearest tried to cover up her misdeed by claiming the kid had taken a Xanax pill.
Somehow, the paramedics got wind of the young man’s condition and an ambulance arrived to shuttle him to the hospital. On the way, his mom called him to pressure him to lie about who his meth dealer really was.
“She initially said the teenager got the drugs while she was in the shower, but later admitted to giving him the drugs herself, thinking it would help him relax,” a report on the incident stated.
Asiq was charged with child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The real crime, though, is that she didn’t know that meth is exactly the wrong drug for calming someone down. Come on, Cheryl. Even the dumbest junkies on the block know that. Haven’t you people ever heard of weed?
